My Best Friend's Girl by Dorothy Koomson

This is a VERY good book.

What do I mean by good? It makes you smile, makes you cry, makes you think, it reaches into parts of you that you never thought existed and makes you FEEL.

The story is about 2 best friends Kamryn(Ryn) and Adele, and what else could come in between 2 girls? A man. Not just any man, it was Ryn's fiance, Nate, who slept with Adele and the whole marriage was called off. The 3 of them cut all contacts with each other and the story begins when Ryn receives a birthday card from Adele to inform her that she's dying. The story unfolds and you get to understand each character, their background, their behavior, in such details that amazes me. The main part of the story is after Adele went to Heaven, leaving Ryn with Tegan.(Adele's daughter) Ryn had never planned to have kids, and she suddenly has the responsibility to bring Tegan up. And to make things worse, her boss is leaving, and a new, obnoxious boss is taking over. But with a turn of events, it becomes a romance and the story is very touching. It ends properly, and the clarity of how she describes the characters makes me wonder if I'll ever know myself as well as she knows her characters. :P

The book is totally well balanced, it makes you want to keep reading, it's never boring you with unnecessary details, it is real. The problems, the behavior, but never too pessimistic. The ending was rather a shock? But it couldn't have been better.

If I have to rate this book? 5 / 5. Good stuff.
